Our alpaca collection is entirely handmade, in a fair trade workshop in Bolivia, which offers good working conditions and a fair income to women who can neither read nor write. This solidarity-based economy contributes to improve the living conditions of families and ensuring the schooling of children.
Baby Alpaca wool is a renewable, highly ecological natural fibre. Our wool comes from a spinning mill located in the Bolivian Andes, which is supplied by small breeders. We use as much as possible the natural colours of alpaca: white, black, shades of grey and brown. All our other colours are made with eco-friendly, non toxic dyes.
Wash
As baby alpaca wool naturally repels dust and odors, it is not necessary to wash your item frequently. To keep it fresh, just air it for a few hours outside. If a wash is necessary, we recommend hand-washing in cold water with a gentle detergent (such as baby shampoo) or a special wool detergent. Let it soak for a few minutes before rinsing it. To dry, gently wrap the item in a towel to remove excess water. Lay flat on a dry towel, away from direct sunlight, to maintain its shape. The shape you set before drying will remain the same once fully dry.
Store
Before storing, ensure the item is completely dry. Place a small lavender sachet or a few cedar ball next to it, to repel moths. Since moths dislike movement, avoid leaving your item unused in a closet for extended periods. Instead, store it in a dry, well-ventilated space, and make sure to air it out occasionally.
